I’m always sort of fascinated by articles in which people talk about why they believe what they do, particularly in a religious context. I basically never find them persuasive (my own inclinations are Apathetic Agnostic– I don’t care if there’s a God or not), but when they’re done well, they’re really interesting reading, in sort of the same way as some science fiction– it’s a look inside a very different worldview.
Two good examples have crossed my path recently. One is Rob Knop’s post about why he is a Christian (the third and concluding post in a series), which I’m sure has already been seen by most of the people who are likely to care about it. Happily, this one manages to have a reasonably civil comment thread.
The other, found via Technorati, is a post about Simon bar Kokhba and Jesus at a blog called Whoever and Whatever God Is. Actually, there’s a bunch of good stuff over there, but that post was particularly interesting.
Neither of these is exactly sending me sprinting off to church, mind, but they’re interesting reading.
