Only Seven Weeks Left…

… until the release of How to Teach Physics to Your Dog. The official release is set for December 22nd, though the books are set to start printing in about three weeks. Exciting, isn’t it?

If you’re still wondering what all the excitement is about, let me direct you to the book previews page at dogphysics.com, where you can download a PDF of Chapter 1, and watch a little video I made to go with a dramatic reading of Chapter 3’s dog dialogue. There will probably be more previews in the next few weeks– check back for updates.

If you’d like something more active to do, Emmy is on Twitter, and will be happy to answer physics questions in her (hopefully) inimitable way. If you’re Twitter-enabled, use hashtag #dogphysics, and she’ll give you an answer. If you’re not on Twitter, but do use Facebook, her tweets are mirrored as status update on Facebook, and she’ll respond to those, too (though it may be slower). If you don’t use either of those services, well, this is a great reason to start.

(If it seems like I’ve been talking about this book forever with no sign of it yet, I assure you, it’s much worse on my end. I’ve been getting asked “Is your book out yet?” about three times a week for about six months now…)

  1. I mentioned this to a friend yesterday and got the response “Only you would plan to get a book about physics with your Christmas money.”

Does it make me wierd that I took that as a compliment?

  2. I see the strategy. You’re conceding early December to the release of the latest Harry Potter film on Bluray, in order to have late December to yourself.

  3. 12/22! That’s tight for Christmas delivery. Thank heavens Amazon Prime has $4 overnight.

  4. What’s the best way for us to gun this up the best-seller lists? Pre-order on Amazon? Buy it day of release at Borders/Barnes-n-Noble? Buy a copy for _both_ of my dogs so they don’t have to share?

  5. Well.

We’ve had our copy pre-ordered on Amazon for what seems like a few years now. The last time we pre-ordered books we had two middle schoolers waiting for the seventh Harry Potter novel (which seemed to come out a lot quicker). At least with HP we had movies to watch while we were waiting and waiting and waiting.

At least you put up a video. Does it have a dog in it? Does it have special effects?

Did I mention we pre-ordered your book? And that we haven’t gotten it yet?

Will you be putting up more videos?

    With special effects?

Or if you’re on a budget, puppets would be nice.
