Putting Baby Mojo to the Test

It has been observed that my New York Football Giants are undefeated this year in games where SteelyKid was present for the game, and happy. The one game they’ve lost, an inexcusable thrashing by the otherwise hapless Browns, was a night game, and Kate took her upstairs for a final feeding before kickoff, and put her to bed immediately afterwards, so she wasn’t on hand for the ugliness.

We put this to the test today, thanks to a delay on Interstate 88 near Unadilla. We should’ve been home right around kickoff, but an accident closed the highway, and we sat parked on the road for a good 45 minutes, and between that and the icy slush, we didn’t get home until halftime.

The correlation remains intact, however.

She was asleep and quiet through the first quarter, which the Giants dominated, but began screaming her little head off midway through the second quarter (justifiably, as she hadn’t been fed for hours and hours and hours). The Redskins promptly rallied, scoring a touchdown, and stopping the Giants on a key fourth down.

Literally minutes after she finally settled down with food, a field goal attempt by the Skins at the close of the half sailed wide, and the Giants were never seriously threatened in the second half (most of which she spent cooing and gurgling happily on my lap), en route to a 23-7 victory, improving their record to 4-0 in the division, and 11-1 overall. Even without a certain knuckledhead wide receiver, about whom the less said the better.

Let’s hear it for Baby Mojo!
