Those folks at Texas must not have read the press release from the University of Michigan back in February.
Michigan claims 300 PW for 30 fs (9 J per pulse).
Texas claims 1 PW for 0.1 ps (0.1 J per pulse).
That’s not even close, so they might be feeling really dumb once the PR people at Michigan see that claim in print. Of course, my assumption that PR people read as much as they write could be poor assumption.

Ooops. My bad. Michigan is only 300 TW. Should read rather than go from memory. The total energy is also wrong due to that mistake: Texas is 100 J per pulse compared to 9 in the Michigan beam.
