YOU POODLES! STAY OFFA MY LAWN!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmmy! Stop barking!\u201d I sit up. She\u2019s at the gap between the fences, where she can see into the front yard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut, those poodles..\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had this conversation. It\u2019s a public street, other dogs are allowed to walk on it. No barking.\u201d She comes over, sheepishly. \u201cWhy can\u2019t you just lie down and enjoy the nice day, hmm?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I would. But, you know\u2026 Quantum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would love to just lie in the sun, but I can\u2019t. You should understand\u2013 it\u2019s quantum physics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I look at her. She looks back.<\/p>\n<p>I rub my temples. She wags her tail cheerfully.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m going to regret this. \u201cOh, fine. How does quantum physics explain your inability to quietly bask in the sun without getting up every two minutes?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m glad you asked.
