Musical Poll: Sisters

I got home very late last night after my talk in New Paltz, the cold that I’ve been developing for the last week has hit full strength, and I’m giving an exam this morning. So here’s something completely silly:

For bonus points, guess which of these songs I have on my iPod.

  1. Considering that three of those songs are songs I’ve never heard of (and of the other two, the only one I’ve actually heard is “Sister Golden Hair”), I’m going to guess that the last three are on your iPod.

I’d be surprised if “Sister Golden Hair” were on your iPod–I’ve seen it featured in Jason Hare’s “Adventures through the Mines of Mellow Gold” column, and I can’t argue with his counting it as part of the genre. I own some music by that group, but not that track, and I wouldn’t spend money to acquire it.

  2. I’ve only heard the first of those, and I can’t say it’s one I’d prefer. The only songs in a search for “Sister” on my iPod are:
My Sister Rose – 10,000 Maniacs
    Sister Rosetta – The Noisettes
Temple of Love – Sisters of Mercy

  3. How about Sister Jack (by Spoon)?

I have no idea about any of the sisters in your poll.

  4. Just tell me “Sister Christian” is NOT on your iPod. Or that, if it is, it just snuck in when you loaded “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me.”

I’m guessing you have ‘Sister Havana’ on the iPod, since nobody remembers Urge, even people who still have the CD! You know they just want to, want to get along…

Also not surprised ScienceBloggers have never heard of Sister Morphine. It was waxed by such an obscure, flash-in-the-pan band. 🙂 [Google is your friend…]

Where’s Sister Ray? Are we not hip?

But props to Alex for the Spoon reference!

Hint: Sister Mary Stigmata is not a song.

    Sister Disco
    Sister Luck
    Sister Blister
    Sister Moon
(I looked those up. I’ve only heard the first one. Pete Townshend.)

And why isn’t Twisted Sister in the poll! (and I’m not taking ‘they suck’ as an excuse)!
