A quick check-in from Tuscaloosa, where we’re getting ready to head out for the football tailgating. While I’ve got a minute, though, here are the slides from my public lecture, via SlideShare:
These are probably less comprehensible that some of my other talks, as I deliberately avoided putting much text on the slides, which I think works better for this kind of presentation. The down side, of course, is that it’s not as obvious what some of the slides mean, if you don’t know the intended flow of the talk. It’s also a little more risky for the speaker, because if you lose your place, it’s much harder to recover.
Both of my public lectures went very well, though, and we got a god turnout in both places– 100+ at Berry, and 50-100 at Alabama, which made two of the biggest crowds I’ve ever spoken to. And people laughed at the right places, and seemed to enjoy the talk.
I signed a couple of books after the Alabama talk, including a couple from regular commenters here, which was nice, but the real highlight for me was a young woman who asked me to sign her notebook. She said she was a biology major who hadn’t had much interest in physics, but enjoyed the talk enough that she was going to go out and get a copy of the book. That’s probably the nicest thing I’ve heard all week.
(If you’d like to see the actual talk, by the way, I really enjoy doing these, so if you’re at an institution which might host this sort of talk, send me an email, and we’ll see what we can work out.)
And now, football. Roll Tide.
I have to say, I found the slides related to “quantum healing” and “quantum coaching” particularly amusing.
I think “SCIENCE. It works, bitches.” is hilarious.
