Thursday Toddler Blogging 070110

Ah, the busy life of a modern homeowner: making phone calls, dealing with the mail, and doing some washing up:

Meanwhile, outside the house, Emmy ponders whether it would be worth the effort to huff and puff, or if trying to blow the house down would just get her scolded.

This isn’t the greatest Appa-for-scale picture, but as a special bonus, below the fold we have a different reference measure:

From this, we can do a little image analysis, and say that SteelyKid is now 0.60 Mommys in height. And still growing rapidly.

The change in post title reflects the other big change around Chateau Steelypips: Kate’s been after me to stop calling her a “baby” for months now, saying that she’s a toddler now. I have resisted on the grounds that she had not yet moved into the Toddler Room at day care (she moved out of the Infant Room last fall, but I absolutely refuse to refer to her as a “Waddler,” the name given to the stage between Infants and Toddlers at her day care).

Well, she moved into the Toddler Room this week, so I have to cave in. She’s been spending one day a week with them for a little while now, but she and her BFF (another girl a few weeks younger than SteelyKid– the two of them are inseparable at day care, and also hilarious) have moved up starting Monday. She’s having a grand time in her new surroundings, which is good news for everyone. The hardest part of the transition is going to be for me, because I’ve become accustomed to using “baby” all the time…

  1. That happened when my nephew was little, so I think it’s a trap a lot of us fall into. We all called him “the baby” for much longer than we should have. He may have been around three before I started calling him “kid”. LOL It’s difficult to admit that they’re growing up so fast!

  2. I think you should have stuck with “Baby Blogging”, if only to keep the alliteration going. “Thursday Toddler Blogging” just doesn’t roll off the tongue as nicely. You could always argue she “always be your baby to you”. It’s a pretty corny argument, to be sure, but unless you want to change it to “Tuesday Toddler Blogging”, I think it’s a sacrifice you have to make for the sake of alliteration!

(No, dispensing with the alliteration is not an acceptable option!)

  3. Well, if you are going for an alliteration then Toddler is actually better as you could say something like Tuesday Toddler Time.

  4. Since she’s nearly 2, I believe that predicts an adult height of approximately 1.2 mommies…
