SteelyKid went through a phase recently where she didn’t want to eat much of anything. This wasn’t medically dangerous, just kind of nerve-wracking. As a result, when she declares out of the blue that she wants a bottle, well, she gets a bottle:
Actually, she got two bottles right after we got home from day care. And another at bedtime. Go figure.
Just for fun, below the fold you’ll see the comparison shot from Week 10 (this is Week 92):
She’s changed just a tiny bit since then…
(For the record, her appetite is pretty much back to normal. Asking for bottles is anomalous, but she’s been routinely sucking down 2-3 cups of apple juice, a handful of crunchy things (Kix cereal, pretzels, crackers) about half a chicken breast and a handful of sweet potato fries at dinner. She doesn’t look like she should be able to contain that much stuff, but we’re happy to keep shoveling food into her…)
She gets her juice in a cup–and is super proud to have graduated to an adult cup at the table–but she refuses to believe that milk can be drunk out of cups. No, I don’t know why.
Why? That’s just the way it is, that’s why!
I confess I have a mug that I prefer for tea, and a different one for coffee. I do drink juice, water, iced tea, and milk from any of a variety of glasses, but (non-alcoholic) beer should be drunk from a bottle. I’m with SteelyKid on this one!
And she’s adorable, as always. Thank you for sharing the pictures!
I don’t mean to be a party pooper, but are you monitoring her sugar intake from the juice? I ask because my brother didn’t drink water (only juice), and had tooth extractions under anaesthetic and fillings dogging his childhood (in contrast, I, drinking mostly water, had one filling).
Glad to here that her appetite has settled down – picky eating can be terrifying.
That is a great picture of Kate! Oh, yeah, and your baby is cute, too.
