You know, as one does.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HmgFRVdS5Go\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Miscellaneous items:<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; I&#8217;m a little pixellated, as if I&#8217;m concealing my identity. I forgot to shut Kate&#8217;s computer down, so it may have been doing online backups that chewed up bandwidth.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; The von Neumann quote I butcher at one point is &#8220;The sciences do not try to explain, they hardly even try to interpret, they mainly make models.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8212; The gravitational wave detection that almost certainly wasn&#8217;t was the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Weber_bar\">Weber bar experiment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; The magnetic monopole detection that may or may not have been real was <a href=\"http:\/\/journals.aps.org\/prl\/abstract\/10.1103\/PhysRevLett.48.1378\">reported in this paper by Blas Cabrera<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; The time-lapse video I made at Union is this one:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2_aZMd660OI\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s it for this week.
