Ford, <a href=\"http:\/\/nielsenhayden.com\/makinglight\/archives\/008033.html#008033\">has died<\/a>. That&#8217;s a shitty way to start the week.<\/p>\n<p>The post title is from his poem <a href=\"http:\/\/www.strangehorizons.com\/2002\/20020429\/troy.shtml\">Troy: The Movie<\/a>, which does not involve Brad Pitt. Also well worth reading is his September 11th memorial poem <a href=\"http:\/\/nielsenhayden.com\/110.html\">110 Stories<\/a>, which I had taped up outside my office for a long time. His NESFA collection, <cite>From the End of the Twentieth Century<\/cite> is full of good stuff, as is the more recent <cite>Heast of Fusion<\/cite>, and <cite>Growing Up Weightless<\/cite> may be my favorite coming-of-age SF story ever.<\/p>\n<p>He was also an occasional poster to Making Light, and an invaluable part of the comments there.
