Schmidt and Adam G. Riess &#8220;for the discovery of the accelerating expansion of the Universe through observations of distant supernovae.&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/startswithabang\/\">Ethan<\/a> will presumably have a post with about a gigabyte worth of images in it shortly, or if you prefer your information in book form, you can read <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/principles\/2011\/01\/the_four_percent_universe_by_r.php\">Richard Panek&#8217;s <cite>The Four Percent Universe<\/cite><\/a>, which has lots of detail about what they did, including the rivalry between the different groups. As a bonus, the UK edition has a blurb from yours truly&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>But that&#8217;s not what you really want to know&#8211; what you really want to know is who won the <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/principles\/2011\/10\/nobel_prize_betting_pool_2011.php\">betting pool<\/a>? Because the prize(s) don&#8217;t cost me anything, I&#8217;ll split this two ways: <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/principles\/2011\/10\/nobel_prize_betting_pool_2011.php#comment-5378329\">Evan Berkowitz in comment #3<\/a> mentioned Perlmutter, and <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/principles\/2011\/10\/nobel_prize_betting_pool_2011.php#comment-5393151\">Cusp in comment #17<\/a> mentioned Schmidt.
