“That’s the idea. Since you’re in the book, I thought it would be nice to have some pictures that look like you, rather than just a clip-art German Shepherd from Office.”<\/p>\n
“I look kind of worried, dude.”<\/p>\n
“Yeah, well, you get that look a lot when we’re talking about physics.”<\/p>\n
“Good point. So, was there a point to this, other than showing off the spiffy drawings an art student did for you?”<\/p>\n
“Sure. It’s a reminder that I’m working on How to Teach Relativity to Your Dog<\/cite>, due next spring from Basic Books. Now with more cute dog pictures.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “How’s that going, anyway?”<\/p>\n “It’s coming along. I’ve got most of the easy edits done, and I see how to deal with the bigger structural things that need doing. It’s a little hard to find time to work on it, but progress is being made, and the next round of changes should be finished in a couple of weeks. The final manuscript needs to be in at the start of August.”<\/p>\n “And, of course, there’s another motive for posting this.”<\/p>\n “Which is?”<\/p>\n “It’s a good filler post because you’re going away for the weekend with the human puppy, leaving me home by myself.”<\/p>\n “Yeah, that, too. If the weather is good, we’ll be taking SteelyKid to the zoo at about the time this posts.”<\/p>\n “I still don’t see why she gets to go to the zoo. You never take me<\/em> to the zoo…”<\/p>\n “That’s because she’s much less likely to try to chase and eat the animals. Or roll in elephant dung.”<\/p>\n “If your noses were worth a quarter-cup of kibble, you’d appreciate the smell.”<\/p>\n “Also, the animals in the zoo would all be jealous, because you’re the best.”<\/p>\n “That, I’ll believe.
