Thus, we went ahead with our plan to take SteelyKid to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adirondackanimalland.com\/index.htm\">zoo<\/a> today:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/principles\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/467\/files\/2012\/04\/i-ba027c3ff770e18d6b201625a2ede7f0-sm_feed_giraffe.jpg\" alt=\"i-ba027c3ff770e18d6b201625a2ede7f0-sm_feed_giraffe.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We only went through the part you can walk through&#8211; it didn&#8217;t seem like we&#8217;d have much luck getting her to sit still for the &#8220;safari ride&#8221; through the rest of it&#8211; and a lot of it was kind of shabby and depressing&#8211; small chain-link enclosures, animals scrambling for food from visitors, etc. But she got to see giraffes, and feed them some sort of crackers, which was a huge hit.
