This isn’t that easy, especially for a little girl (Babysaurus had a couple of different sets of boys pajamas that were superhero uniforms, but nothing equivalent for girls), and was complicated by the fact that SteelyKid had yet another cold this week (which she was bothered by for just long enough to get sent home from day care with a fever Wednesday, meaning I stayed home with her yesterday, which is always an adventure).

One costume idea I had was to put her in fuzzy white pj’s, and give her a set of bunny ears (which you can find these days in Target). She liked the ears just fine to wave around:

For wearing, though, not so much:

Oh, well. It’s probably for the best. The dog never would’ve forgiven me if we dressed SteelyKid as a bunny.

So that we don’t end on that unhappy note, here’s a short video of SteelyKid at play. She’s decided that several of her stuffed toys are babies, including a little duck with inexplicable rain gear (a hat and boots sewn to the body, and a removable raincoat– the overall effect is faintly indecent). She’ll pick one, carry it around, refer to it as “baby,” swaddle it in a dish towel, and say “Shhh” like she’s putting it down for a nap:

She also does this with her stuffed Lorax. In that case, I supply running commentary about how it is not a baby, but a vengeful nature spirit, etc. I can’t do that and shoot video at the same time, though, so you get the duck instead.

Today is the Purim parade at the Schenectady JCC, so all the kids needed costumes to wear.
