Turkey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s yesterday&#8217;s turkey a la <cite>Good Eats<\/cite>, a little while after coming out of the oven:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/principles\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/467\/files\/2012\/04\/i-52304a8b93c3fc1e472e932e23721b4b-sm_turkey.jpg\" alt=\"i-52304a8b93c3fc1e472e932e23721b4b-sm_turkey.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As in past years, we brined it overnight. Unlike past years, we didn&#8217;t have any of the plastic roasting bags, so instead we took advantage of the spiffy new roasting pan (a Christmas gift after the <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/principles\/2007\/11\/liquid_turkey.php\">liquid turkey incident<\/a>) and the convection roast setting on our oven. A 21-lb turkey cooked in 2hrs, and came out pretty darn tasty.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the menu: funeral potatoes (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&#038;source=web&#038;ct=res&#038;cd=1&#038;ved=0CAcQFjAA&#038;url=http%3A%2F%2Fnielsenhayden.com%2Fmakinglight%2Farchives%2F002685.html&#038;ei=TOcPS672KM_HlAfptayiBA&#038;usg=AFQjCNEKO8nd6AEuU15j3mH-2hm0GSOaVg\">recipe here<\/a>), steamed broccoli and green beans, and stuffing. The stuffing is probably my favorite part. How much do I like stuffing? I made a whole extra dish of it, that I didn&#8217;t even put out, so I would be sure to have plenty of leftovers. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m still shaking off last night&#8217;s food coma, and have to spend a whole bunch of time figuring out how to make the puppet show movie I owe you, because the computer software industry is stupid and evil.
