The percentage of the district\u00e2\u0080\u0099s 10th graders receiving top scores on state exams rose to 86 percent last year from 78 percent in 2006. Ostensibly the reason for this is that IARPA does not want to fund other agencies work. While I believe this represents a failure of the school system (and me), Julia scores high on the standardized \u00e2\u0080\u009cno child left behind\u00e2\u0080\u009d type tests, and for the schools, that\u00e2\u0080\u0099s success.<\/p>\n<p>Julia may encounter girl-prejudiced teachers or math-negative peer pressure as she goes along, and if I get wind of it, I\u00e2\u0080\u0099ll do what I can to counter it.
