{"id":3719,"date":"2009-05-30T11:26:07","date_gmt":"2009-05-30T11:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/principles\/2009\/05\/30\/going-mobile\/"},"modified":"2009-05-30T11:26:07","modified_gmt":"2009-05-30T11:26:07","slug":"going-mobile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/chadorzel.com\/principles\/2009\/05\/30\/going-mobile\/","title":{"rendered":"Going Mobile"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t intend to turn this entirely over to Video Baby Blogging, but SteelyKid has been adding new tricks at an amazing rate, and I have the camera&#8230; Here, she showcases her newfound mobility, and her inherited taste in entertainment:<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/vjebEhlLXIs&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/vjebEhlLXIs&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>The odd one-leg-under crawling style seems to be a local maximum&#8211; she <em>can<\/em> get up on all fours in the classic crawling posture, but she doesn&#8217;t have the mechanics entirely worked out, and makes faster progress with her left leg folded under. In the tradition of her experimentalist father, she doesn&#8217;t see an immediate need to fix what&#8217;s basically working.<\/p>\n<p>The bookshelf she made a beeline for contains fiction anthologies. the specific book she grabbed was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Book-Ballads-Charles-Vess\/dp\/076531214X\"><cite>The Book of Ballads<\/cite><\/a>. It sticks out a bit from the rest of the books on that shelf, which is probably why it&#8217;s a favorite.<\/p>\n<p>We spent a good chunk of the morning baby-proofing things, and there is now a gate blocking those shelves (it was easier than finding a new home for all those books).
