{"id":3463,"date":"2009-03-04T10:19:28","date_gmt":"2009-03-04T10:19:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/principles\/2009\/03\/04\/best-and-worst-interview-quest\/"},"modified":"2009-03-04T10:19:28","modified_gmt":"2009-03-04T10:19:28","slug":"best-and-worst-interview-quest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/chadorzel.com\/principles\/2009\/03\/04\/best-and-worst-interview-quest\/","title":{"rendered":"Best and Worst Interview Questions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I spent a few hours Sunday afternoon interviewing students for positions in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.union.edu\/StudentLife\/Minervas\/\">Minerva House program<\/a>, a student life initiative that I&#8217;m involved with. The interviews were don by a panel&#8211; me and four students&#8211; and we tried to mix in a few oddball interview questions with the serious stuff.<\/p>\n<p>The most successful of these was &#8220;What are five things you can do with a straw?&#8221; One of the students kept trying to ask &#8220;If you could be any Pokemon, which would you be, and why?&#8221; but we&#8217;re apparently not drawing from a nerdy enough pool of students, because most of them couldn&#8217;t think of anything.<\/p>\n<p>I thought I&#8217;d throw this out there to my readers, though, because I&#8217;m sure some of you know a lot more about oddball intwerview questions than I do. So:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>What is the best interview question you know of? The worst?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>These could be questions you were asked, questions you have asked job candidates, or really weird questions you&#8217;d like to ask a job candidate, but nobody is foolish enough to give you the power to ask. Leave your favorite, or least favorite, in the comments.
