Woke up, got out of bed

8:40<\/strong>: Leave home, bike to work.<\/p>\n

8:50<\/strong>: Arrive at work, stow bike in lab<\/p>\n

8:55<\/strong>: Download electronically submitted papers to be graded. Determine which students haven’t handed papers in yet.<\/p>\n

9:15<\/strong>: Change into teaching clothes, review lecture notes.<\/p>\n

9:35-10:40<\/strong>: Teach class on basics of quantum computing, logic gates, supeerpositions and entanglement.<\/p>\n

10:45<\/strong>: Let class go five minutes late. Run to bathroom.<\/p>\n

10:50-11:55<\/strong>: Second class, review for Tuesday’s exam. Answer questions about right-hand rules, magnetic fields, and Faraday’s law.<\/p>\n

12:05<\/strong>: Last student leaves.<\/p>\n

12:05-12:30<\/strong>: Eat deeply unsatisfying lunch of salad w\/o dressing (oil and vinegar being forbidden on the heartburn diet).<\/p>\n

12:30-1:15<\/strong>: Colloquium by job candidate.<\/p>\n

1:30-2:05<\/strong>: Meet with job candidate, give lab tour.<\/p>\n

2:15<\/strong>: Sit down to grade papers, find big pile of email.<\/p>\n

2:15-2:30<\/strong>: Deal with trivial email.<\/p>\n

2:30-3:00<\/strong>: Deal with email from grants officer about NSF grant renewal. Spend a bunch of time attempting to extract information from FastLane.<\/p>\n

3:00-3:15<\/strong>: Research student arrives, spend time discussing poster for DAMOP next week, giving instructions for lab tasks.<\/p>\n

3:15-3:30<\/strong>: Discuss revised schedule for job candidate visits with chair.<\/p>\n

3:30-4:00<\/strong>: Academic advisee stops by for pre-scheduling discussion for Fall term. Discuss choice of classes, current classes, future plans.<\/p>\n

4:00<\/strong>: Research student returns, having discovered Problem in lab. Is sent off to calculate magnitude of Problem.<\/p>\n

4:20-4:30<\/strong>: Discuss results of depressing calculation of Problem.<\/p>\n

4:30-5:00<\/strong>: Clean up mess from last couple of weeks of labs.<\/p>\n

5:00-5:30<\/strong>: Set up lab for Tuesday.<\/p>\n

5:30<\/strong>: Belatedly remember bike ride ahead. Change clothes, retrieve bike, head home.<\/p>\n

5:50<\/strong>: Arrive home, rescue dog from crate. Realize that absolutely no grading was accomplished.<\/p>\n
