Here’s another post to highlight a worthy proposal with a good science connection. “Little Scientists”<\/a> is looking to bring marine habitats to pre-kindergarten students in Buffalo:<\/p>\n

Animals and life sciences are of particular interest to young children, so we try to discover a lot about animals and habitats. We are also very lucky to have a partnership with the local science museum and students get a chance to visit at least once a year.<\/p>\n

I am requesting science materials that will be housed in our classroom and not in the museum. For example, I would like my students to be able to handle books about sea animals, look at models of sea animals and touch safe specimens of sea animals.<\/p>\n

These items are difficult to acquire for a classroom library, yet they greatly enhance understanding for students who learn best through hands-on experiences. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This is a high poverty urban district, and a chance to help get students interested in science at a very early age. They’re looking for $1,022, which would get us halfway to the goal for the Uncertain Principles challenge<\/a>.
