That is, who writes essays covering a wide range of the sciences, as opposed to covering one in detail for the public?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If you look in the comments, the second plugs <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelypips.org\/library\/0503.html#052803\">Bill Bryson&#8217;s science book<\/a>, and you&#8217;ll find me saying positive things about <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/principles\/2007\/07\/the_canon_by_natalie_angier.php\">Natalie Angier&#8217;s <cite>The Canon<\/cite><\/a>. (You&#8217;ll also find me quibbling about Asmiov, but that&#8217;s a side debate&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re not coming up with a whole lot over there, but surely ScienceBlogs readers have some ideas. So, are there good general-science popularizers out there these days?
