Tara Smith has a <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/aetiology\/2007\/07\/danica_mckelllars_math_doesnt.php\">review of a math book by Danica McKellar<\/a>, titled <cite>Math Doesn&#8217;t Suck: How to Survive Middle-School Math Without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail<\/cite>. It&#8217;s aimed at getting middle-school girls to have more positive feelings about math in general.<\/p>\n<p>I am not now nor have I ever been in the target audience for this book, so I won&#8217;t attempt to evaluate it. However, I think everybody this side of &#8220;Uncle Al&#8221; agrees that finding better ways to teach math to middle-school girls is a Good Thing, so I wanted to post a pointer to Tara&#8217;s review for those who don&#8217;t already read her blog.<\/p>\n<p>She also has a teasing sentence hinting at a forthcoming interview with McKellar (which may already be up by the time this posts), so check back for that, if brainy celebrities are your thing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>(<strong>UPDATE:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/aetiology\/2007\/07\/interview_with_math_whiz_autho.php\">here&#8217;s the interview<\/a>.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I can&#8217;t resist the snarky title, but this is a serious topic.
