I make a habit of checking my Technorati search results regularly, partly because I’m just vain enough to care that other people are linking to me (my rank is holding steady in the 8,000’s, but it hasn’t updated in a while), but mostly because it’s a good way to find new blogs, and there are a few new science-type blogs linking to me.<\/p>\n
The most developed to this point has to be metadatta<\/a>, written by an undergraduate student at UPenn. He’s working on a series of nice posts about liquid crystals Part I<\/a>, Part II<\/a>, Part III<\/a>) and it generally looks pretty interesting.<\/p>\n There’s also Remaining Eye<\/a>, at which a postdoc friend is keeping notes on papers of interest. Only a couple of articles so far, but it might be a good resource for keeping up with atomic physics, if he keeps it up. No pressure.<\/p>\n And, of course, one of the freaky things about technorati is that it sometimes picks up blogs that have barely even gotten started, such as Decoherent Ramblings<\/a>, which has a whopping one post, dated yesterday, and a nice banner photo. It’s another undergraduate student blog, and I’ll be interested to see where it goes, or if linking this scares him off completely…<\/p>\n There are also new links from more established blogs<\/a>, and the obligatory links from crazy people<\/a>. Poking at Technorati is a great work-avoidance strategy, really.<\/p>\n Though it’s only a few days since the official Open Pimping Thread, I’ll open this up to the pimping of blogs specifically: If you’re writing (or just know of) a blog that I ought to be reading, leave a link in the comments.
